Anti-Cellulite Ingredients used in the Summer Skin scrub and their effects in the anti-cellulite treatment:

Caffeine: A few select studies have been conducted that indicate caffeine has a positive effect on fat cells and their ability for lypolysis (Bertin and Nutrica).  According to the in vitro Nutrica study, storage of fat in fat cells is accomplished by the protein lipoprotein lipase, located on the fat cell membrane. This lipoprotein lipase is an enzyme "produced by the fat cell to convert lipoprotein-bound triglycerides circulating in the bloodstream into free triglycerides that can be stored in the fat" (Nutrica).  In the presence of caffeine or its related compounds, activity of the lipoprotein lipase is inhibited and in turn, so is the storage of fat in fat cells, causing cells to eventually burn the fat already stored.  When applied to the skin, the idea is that the compound penetrates the skin to inhibit fat deposition and increase fat burning as in the in vitro samples, while pulling moisture away from cells and firming skin. 

Horse Chestnut Extract: The principal biologically active component of horse chestnut seed extract is escin, a triterpenic saponin mixture. Escin is known to help maintain healthy blood circulation and strengthen the capillaries and veins. Traditionally, the seeds, leaves, and bark, were used in medicinal preparations. More recently, horse chestnut extract is valued as beneficial to circulatory health. Esculin is another component of Horse Chesnut extract reported to be useful in improving microcirculation.

Papaya Extract: Green papaya fruit and the tree's latex are both rich in an enzyme called papain, a protease which, when applied on skin produces mild efficient peeling effect, removing dead cells and enhancing the penetration of active ingredients.

Kiwi extract: Kiwi fruit is a rich source of vitamin C. Its potassium content by weight is almost as high as that of a banana. It also contains vitamins A and E.

Directions:

Apply the product with hands, sponge or washcloth and gently massage the areas where exfoliation is desired.
